Terms of Service for Linkelo
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Linkelo is a browser extension developed and operated by 1606 Underground, an individual developer — not a corporation or LLC. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and 1606 Underground governing your use of the Linkelo browser extension and the backend service it optionally connects to (together, "Linkelo" or the "Service").
By installing or using Linkelo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Linkelo.
The short version
- Linkelo is provided as-is, free of charge, for personal use.
- You are responsible for how you use it — including staying within LinkedIn's own terms, and not using it to publicly shame or embarrass anyone.
- Disputes are resolved through individual arbitration, not a class action lawsuit or jury trial, unless you opt out within 30 days. See Dispute resolution below.
- We can change these Terms, or change or discontinue Linkelo, at any time.
What Linkelo is
Linkelo scores LinkedIn profiles and assigns them a tier from S to F, based on information read from a profile you choose to open and rank. What data is processed, what stays on your computer, and what is optionally shared is covered in our Privacy Policy — these Terms cover the rules for using the Service, not what happens to your data.
One setting, Rank against everyone, controls how much you share, on a scale of three levels:
- Off — nothing leaves your device.
- Anonymous — the default. Contributes an anonymous score to a shared population and lets you see tiers others have already worked out. Never your name or link.
- Public — a further, separate choice, never made for you. Also publishes your own real name, LinkedIn profile link and score to a public leaderboard.
Who can use Linkelo
You must be at least 16 years old to use Linkelo. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use Linkelo for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Comply with LinkedIn's own User Agreement and any other terms that apply to your LinkedIn account. Linkelo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn, and using Linkelo is your own decision and your own responsibility with respect to LinkedIn's policies.
- Not use Linkelo to publicly rank, shame, harass or embarrass any individual.
- Not use Linkelo to collect or publish anyone else's name, profile link or personal information other than your own. The public leaderboard exists so you can publish your own profile, by your own choice — never anyone else's.
- Not attempt to circumvent Linkelo's rate limits, reverse-engineer the scrambling used to anonymize profile addresses in order to identify real people, or otherwise interfere with the Service's normal operation.
- Not use Linkelo in a way that violates any applicable law.
The public leaderboard
If you set Rank against everyone to Public, you are publishing your own real name, LinkedIn profile link and score for other Linkelo users to see. This is entirely optional, never the default, and reversible — moving back to Anonymous or Off removes your entry.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you publish and for your own decision to publish it. We may remove any entry — including yours — at our sole discretion, including in response to a report that an entry does not belong to the person it names.
Feedback
If you send us feedback through the extension or by email, you agree that we may use it to improve Linkelo without any obligation to you, and without compensation.
Intellectual property
The Linkelo name, logo and branding belong to 1606 Underground. The Linkelo extension's underlying source code is made available separately under an open-source (MIT) license, which governs your rights to the code itself. These Terms govern your use of the Service, not the code license.
No warranty
Linkelo is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Linkelo does not guarantee that any score, tier or ranking is accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose — including hiring, admissions, investment, or any other decision about a real person. Nothing in Linkelo constitutes professional, legal, financial or employment advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, 1606 Underground is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use Linkelo. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Linkelo is limited to fifty dollars ($50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold 1606 Underground harmless from any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of Linkelo, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any right of a third party — including a claim brought by someone whose profile you ranked or whose information you published to the public leaderboard.
Termination
You may stop using Linkelo at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or any part of it (including the shared ranking backend or the public leaderboard), at any time, with or without notice.
Changes to Linkelo and these Terms
Linkelo may change over time — features may be added, changed or removed. We may update these Terms; if a change is significant, the date at the top will change, and the change will be noted in the extension's release notes, the same way changes to the Privacy Policy are.
Dispute resolution
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court.
Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by emailing 1606underground@gmail.com. We will try to resolve it within 60 days.
Binding arbitration. If that does not resolve the dispute, you and 1606 Underground agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Linkelo will be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
Class action waiver. You and 1606 Underground agree that any arbitration or claim will be conducted only on an individual basis, and not as a class, consolidated or representative action.
Opt out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing 1606underground@gmail.com within 30 days of first using Linkelo, stating that you opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts described below instead.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Subject to the arbitration agreement above, any dispute not subject to arbitration (or where a party has opted out of arbitration, or brought a small claims action) will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and 1606 Underground regarding Linkelo.
